Andhra Pradesh is actively seeking investments from South Korean maritime manufacturers for its ambitious ₹30,000 crore Dugarajapatnam shipbuilding cluster. This initiative aims to create a robust industrial base for shipbuilding and related maritime activities, enhancing India’s domestic shipbuilding capacity and fortifying the state’s maritime ecosystem.
The Dugarajapatnam cluster is projected to develop into a major hub for shipbuilding and heavy industries, targeting an impressive capacity of 1.2 million gross tonnage. This project is integral to a broader plan to bolster shipbuilding, repairs, and maritime services, while also boosting the number of Indian-flagged vessels in the national fleet.
The Indian government is considering the cluster, with in-principle approval anticipated to expedite shipbuilding infrastructure.
