The incident occurred near the town of Kylerhea, in the Kyle Rhea channel, which experiences currents of up to eight knots. The boat was stranded by the falling tide and will have to wait for high tide the next morning for a refloat attempt. The crew was safely evacuated for their own protection. Two other fish farm operators have dispatched vessels to provide assistance if needed. The operator, Ocean Farm Services, confirmed that the crew is safe, and there have been no reports of pollution.
