Danish offshore vessel owner ESVAGT and Norwegian ship designer HAV Design have chosen Brunvoll as the supplier for the propulsion and maneuvering system of their upcoming Service Operations Vessel (SOV). This comes as a repeat order for Brunvoll, as they had previously provided the same system for ESVAGT’s vessel last year, which was hailed as “The world’s first green fuel SOV”. Both vessels are being constructed by Cemre Shipyard and will be chartered by Ørsted for a period of 10 years at their UK East Coast Hub.

Brunvoll’s delivery will include an extensive propulsion and maneuvering system, comprising of azimuth propulsion thrusters, retractable azimuth thrusters, and a tunnel thruster. Additionally, the system will be equipped with Brunvoll’s condition monitoring system (BruCon CMS), enhancing its efficiency and performance.

The newbuild hybrid vessel, following the HAV 833 SOV design, will showcase a methanol-electric propulsion system, featuring a battery pack that enables operations with very low to zero emissions. With a length of 93 meters and a width of 19.6 meters, the SOV will have the capacity to accommodate up to 124 individuals. Its primary function will be the secure transportation of technicians and spare parts to and from offshore wind turbines and substations.

This collaboration highlights ESVAGT and HAV Design’s commitment to sustainable offshore operations. By utilizing a green fuel SOV with an advanced propulsion and maneuvering system from Brunvoll, they are taking significant steps towards reducing carbon emissions and establishing a more environmentally friendly industry.
