Bureau Veritas Partners with OrbitMI to Drive Shipping Decarbonization

French class society Bureau Veritas (BV) has made an investment in US-based maritime software company OrbitMI. The collaboration aims to address the opportunities presented by the digital transformation and the decarbonisation of shipping. The size of the investment has not been disclosed, but BV will reportedly receive a seat on the OrbitMI board of directors. BV’s Marine & Offshore division and OrbitMI will work together to meet clients’ regulatory and decarbonisation requirements, as well as their long-term digital transformation goals. BV’s president of Marine & Offshore division, Matthieu de Tugny, stated that the collaboration will combine operators’ and charterers’ interests with technical expertise and data monitoring. OrbitMI’s CEO, Ali Riaz, added that the partnership affirms OrbitMI’s expertise in digital innovation and their strategy to use data to improve workflows.
