North Star has a long-term charter agreement with EnBW for vessels that will be delivered for the He Dreiht wind farm off Germany.
The 85-metre-long hybrid SOVs are designed by a Norwegian firm to meet the service, maintenance, and operational needs of the offshore wind industry. They feature a fully electric azimuth propulsion system and a 3D motion-compensated gangway system for safe and efficient operations at sea. These vessels represent a significant advancement in technology for the renewable energy sector.
North Star’s collaboration with Cochin Shipyard highlights the growing demand for environmentally friendly vessels in the offshore wind industry. By investing in these innovative hybrid SOVs, companies like North Star and Siemens Gamesa are taking steps towards a more sustainable future for the maritime sector. The vessels’ advanced design and capabilities position them as key players in supporting the maintenance and operation of offshore wind farms.
