According to AIS vessel tracking data from MarineTraffic.com, an LNG tanker lost control and capsized in the Suez Canal, resulting in another tanker colliding with it. It is unclear if a third tanker nearby was involved. The collision involved the Man, a Cayman Island tanker, and the Singaporean-flagged LNG tanker BW Lesmes. The third tanker, the Athenian Spirit, under the flag of the Bahamas, was also present.

An AIS playback revealed that BW Lesmes veered off course and grounded in the southern end of the Suez Canal, where only one lane of traffic exists. In March 2021, the vessel Ever Given also ran aground in the same area, blocking the waterway for six days. Currently, tugboats are assisting BW Lesmes in staying in the area. The incident occurred as the ships were completing their southbound journey. There are no immediate impacts on the operation of the Suez Canal.
