Container ship off Malaysia engulfed in flames

Authorities in Malaysia are battling a fire on the M/V KMTC Shenzhen, a container ship owned by Korea Marine Transport Co. The fire started on Saturday and emergency services have been deployed to the scene. The fire is contained to at least 9 containers out of the 1,189 on board and all 18 crew members are safe. Firefighting operations have been ongoing since Sunday and the situation seems to be under control. The ship, with a deadweight tonnage of 2,778 TEU, left Hong Kong on August 8th. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
