Aston Lark, the insurance brokerage firm owned by Howden, has acquired Curtis Marine, a marine insurance broker based in Plymouth. Following the acquisition, Curtis Marine will become part of Howden’s marine practice and will operate under the name Haven Knox-Johnston. This is not the first acquisition for Aston Lark in the marine insurance sector, as they previously purchased specialist marine pleasure craft insurance provider Haven Knox-Johnston from MS Amlin in 2020. The addition of Curtis Marine to the Haven Knox-Johnston brand will join other entities such as Euromarine, A-Plan Marine, and Howden Fastnet. Howden acquired Fastnet as part of their deal for superyacht broker STA Group in 2021.
Curtis Marine has a strong reputation in the marine insurance industry and has been providing its services in this sector for a significant period of time. The acquisition of Curtis Marine further strengthens Howden’s position in the marine insurance market and expands their portfolio of offerings in this sector.
