The Isle of Man’s cruise season has ended early due to adverse weather conditions caused by Storm Babet. The storm, which is battering the eastern coast of Scotland, made it unsafe for tender operations, leading one Norwegian Cruise Line ship to depart earlier than planned. This marked the end of a record-breaking season for the Isle of Man, with 59 cruise ships scheduled to visit. The storm is also causing disruptions for other cruise ships in the region that typically operate cruises towards Spain, Portugal, and the Canary Islands at this time of year.

Storm Babet is one of the first autumn storms of the year and is already one of the worst. It is bringing strong winds and heavy rain to eastern Scotland, with some areas expecting up to 220mm of rain. Cruise ships around the British Isles are facing challenging conditions, with another storm heading towards the Bay of Biscay, which is unavoidable for cruises heading to Spain, Portugal, and the Canary Islands. Some ships have reached calmer waters, but others are en route to areas expected to be hit by the storm.

Guests onboard the German cruise ship ADIAluna can expect waves up to 8 meters in height and winds gusting up to 60 MPH, as they head towards Lisbon, Portugal. This area is known for its notorious conditions for ships worldwide.
