Search and rescue operations were conducted in South Africa to locate 11 fishermen who went missing at sea after their ship sank off the coast of Cape Town. The Fisheries Ministry reported that nine fishermen were rescued using a lifeboat, while the search continued for the missing crew members. Fisheries Minister Barbara Creecy expressed her concern for the fishermen and their families and awaited updates on the rescue efforts.

The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) launched rescue missions on Friday after receiving a distress call about a fishing vessel sinking 30 nautical miles off the Atlantic coast. Five fishing vessels arrived at the search area and were able to locate and rescue nine of the 20 local fishermen from a life raft. The cause of the sinking remains unknown, as reported by the NSRI.

The missing fishermen and those who were rescued were the focus of prayers and support as efforts continued to locate the remaining crew members. The situation highlighted the dangers of the fishing industry and the importance of search and rescue operations in saving lives at sea. Updates on the situation were provided by the NSRI and the Fisheries Ministry as the search continued for the missing fishermen.
