Simon Grainge, the chief executive officer of the International Seafarers Welfare and Assistance Network (Iswan), has dedicated his life to helping the underprivileged. With a background in serving organizations that help the homeless and the handicapped, Grainge understands the struggles of those with very little and has made it his mission to give back. After 20 years of serving the underprivileged, Grainge decided to shift his focus to seafarers, the “invisible” force that runs the world trade.

Grainge’s empathy for seafarers comes from a personal connection, as his brother was a seafarer. He has brought his invaluable experience in serving the disadvantaged to Iswan and has made sure that the welfare needs of the world’s seafarers are met. He is particularly impressed by the professionalism and determination of Filipino seafarers, whom he has worked with closely. Despite the challenges of working across time zones and the need for extensive travel, Grainge takes pride in the positive impact he has had on people’s lives through his work.

When he is not working, Grainge enjoys tending to his garden and cycling in his free time. His dedication to serving others and his ability to find joy in life despite facing adversity make him a truly inspiring individual.
