Passengers on the “Endless World Cruise” faced delays and confusion as their journey began in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The cruise ship, Odyssey, departed with much fanfare, only to anchor just outside Belfast. Passengers complained of conflicting reports, with the CEO of Villa Vie Odyssey Residents, Mike Petterson, assuring them that the ship would be leaving “any minute now.” However, as of overnight Wednesday, the ship remained anchored, with its destination set for Brest, France, on October 4. Company officials cited final paperwork as the reason for the holdup, leaving passengers waiting for a revised itinerary.

The cruise, which had been promoted since May, faced unexpected problems during dry docking in Belfast. Issues with the vessel’s rudder posts and gearbox delayed the departure, with the ship finally receiving clearance on September 28. Passengers, who had been waiting in accommodations, were finally able to board the ship, only to be informed of another delay shortly after departure. Despite frustrations, some passengers remained optimistic, looking forward to the long-awaited journey.

During the extended dry dock period, passengers were allowed to board the ship during the day to set up their cabins. Some took advantage of the time to make renovations, creating unique accommodations. As more features on the ship became available, passengers started to settle into their new life aboard. With expectations of forming a community and building relationships during the journey, passengers are eager for the adventure to truly begin, even after missing out on planned summer destinations in Scandinavia and Europe.
