Filipino Seafarer Reported Missing, Body Discovered Near Detached Mole

A 48-year-old Filipino seafarer from the tanker MV Gladiator was found dead in the sea near the Detached Mole in Gibraltar. The man is believed to have fallen into the water while climbing the steps on the northern side of the Detached Mole, where the tanker is berthed. The Royal Gibraltar Police (RGP) stated that there are currently no indications of foul play and that the investigation is ongoing.

The RGP received a call on Saturday evening reporting a man missing after falling into the water. A search operation was immediately launched, involving various authorities such as the RGP, HM Customs, Gibraltar Defence Police, Gibraltar Port Authority, and Gibraltar Fire and Rescue Service. The body of the man was recovered from the waters in the Detached Mole area by divers from the Gibraltar Fire and Rescue Service.

Initially, the police reported that the body was found off the North Mole but later updated the information. RGP Crime Scene Investigators were sent to the scene, and the Coroner was informed. The investigation into the man’s death is still ongoing, but at present, there are no suspicions of foul play.
