Oil major Shell, Japanese shipping company NYK Line, and FueLNG, a joint venture between Keppel Offshore & Marine and Shell Eastern Petroleum, have completed the first simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering for a pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) in Southeast Asia. The bunkering took place at the PSA Asia Automobile Terminal in Singapore, a major transit point for LNG vessels. The LNG bunkering vessel FueLNG Bellina refueled NYK’s PCTC Jasmine Leader, one of the largest in the world. This operation is part of the companies’ efforts to support decarbonization in the maritime industry.

In March of this year, FueLNG and NYK achieved the first PCTC LNG bunkering in Singapore, following the Technical Reference 56 for LNG Bunkering set by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore. This standard ensures safe, reliable, and transparent LNG bunkering operations in Singapore. The recent SIMOPS bunkering highlights the collective dedication of the industry to reducing carbon emissions and embracing cleaner alternatives.
