GEA is actively supporting the shipping industry in its journey towards sustainability by introducing new products designed to reduce emissions of NOx, SOx, particulate matter, and soot. Additionally, GEA is offering new biofuel separators and solutions for treating process water in exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems. These innovative solutions are tailored to the specific properties of biofuels, ensuring peak performance and minimizing engine wear.
One of GEA’s key offerings is the biofuel separator, which efficiently separates water and impurities in biofuels such as hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) and fatty acid methyl ester (FAME). These separators are designed to meet ISO 8217:2017 fuel requirements and can seamlessly operate with various types of biofuels, ensuring compatibility with evolving sustainable fuel options. The integrated direct drive in GEA biofuel separators maximizes performance per square meter of space, contributing to system longevity and reliability.
Furthermore, GEA provides solutions for treating EGR process water, including the GEA NOx separator and the GEA bilgEGR solution. These offerings cater to engine outputs of up to 200MW and are designed to meet stringent environmental protection requirements. The GEA bilge separator with heat recovery function is another noteworthy upgrade, showcasing GEA’s commitment to sustainability by saving up to 80% of the energy required for heating feed water. GEA will showcase these innovative solutions at the SMM global marine trade fair in Hamburg from September 3 to 6, 2024.
