Seawork, a leading maritime trade event, is collaborating with Maritime UK and the Solent Local Enterprise Partnership to organize a careers event on the final day of Seawork 2024. The commercial marine industry is in need of the next generation of innovators and problem solvers to shape the future, and the European Commission has emphasized the importance of investing in skills and career development in the Blue Economy.
The Careers Day at Seawork 2023 was a success, attracting over 160 students from schools, colleges, and universities across the UK. The event included presentations from individuals in various marine-related roles, as well as opportunities for students to explore the exhibition and speak with employers. Seawork also hosts a Maritime Training & Careers Pavilion, sponsored by Jobs in Maritime, and features a Careers Trail to explore training, employment, and education opportunities in the commercial marine industry.
The event received positive feedback from attendees, with participants expressing interest in pursuing marine engineering apprenticeships and finding the presentations and exhibitors informative. Seawork 2024, the 25th-anniversary edition, will take place over 11-13 June 2024, with a dedicated Careers Fair, Maritime Training & Careers Pavilion, and Careers Trail for those interested in exploring opportunities in the commercial marine industry. For those looking to participate in the Careers Fair or exhibit in the Pavilion, they can contact Seawork for more information.
