The Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN)-India, which was launched in July 2022, has made significant progress in combating maritime corruption in the country. To ensure industry feedback and guidance, a Steering Committee consisting of senior level functionaries from various organizations has been established. The Committee meets quarterly to address corruption issues in the maritime sector. The recent meeting took place in Mumbai on August 31, 2023.

Through its digital initiatives, MACN-India has set up a Helpdesk and is working on implementing an e-dashboard. So far, around 500 Pre-Arrival Notifications (PANs) have been received from maritime companies, vessel masters, and agents. Additionally, the network has successfully resolved 16 reported incidents of maritime corruption by actively engaging with relevant authorities.

The efforts of MACN-India have resulted in a positive impact on the port user experience, with an increasing number of feedback from masters of vessels and other stakeholders indicating improvements and a cleaner environment in Indian ports. The network remains committed to continuing its fight against corruption in the maritime industry and promoting transparency and fair practices.
