MPC Container Ships has added four eco-design ships to its fleet, named AS Anne, AS Stine, AS Silje, and AS Simone. The acquisitions, priced at $136.4m, include existing charter contracts. These newbuilds are 30% more efficient than traditional designs and rank in the top 25% of vessels in their segment. With an average age of 4.6 years, they will contribute approximately 9,250 teu to MPCC’s fleet, which now consists of 70 vessels, including four newbuilds, with a total capacity of 153,294 teu.

MPCC has recently joined the Silk Alliance green corridor cluster initiative. This initiative includes energy producer Yara Clean Ammonia ASA, trade association the Methanol Institute, and the National University of Singapore (NUS) Centre for Maritime Studies. The purpose of this alliance is to promote sustainability and green practices within the maritime industry. MPCC’s addition of these eco-design ships demonstrates its commitment to environmental responsibility and aligns with the goals of the Silk Alliance.
