The 23 Bangladeshi crew members of MV Abdullah departed from the port of UAE for Chattogram after loading 56,000 tonnes of limestone. The ship left the port of Mina Saqr at 2am (UAE time) on Tuesday, April 30.
Mehrul Karim, the CEO of KSRM Group, confirmed that MV Abdullah and its crew were previously held by pirates but were freed and anchored at Al Hamriya Port in the UAE on April 21. After unloading coal and departing for Mina Saqr port on April 27, the ship loaded limestone and set course for Chattogram. It is estimated that the journey will take around two weeks for the ship to reach its destination.
The departure of MV Abdullah with its Bangladeshi crew members marks the continuation of its journey after being released from pirate captivity. The loading of limestone at Mina Saqr and the upcoming voyage to Chattogram represent a significant step in the ship’s return to normal operations following its recent ordeal.
