The Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) signed an MoU with the Maritime Research Institute Netherlands (MARIN) to collaborate on Hydrodynamic Studies and Model Testing for new construction projects. This partnership aims to enhance IRS’s ability to provide advanced maritime solutions by leveraging MARIN’s expertise and research services. MARIN will share scientific knowledge and provide access to its research facilities in the Netherlands, while IRS will provide key inputs and ensure client requirements are met for all future projects classed by IRS for Indian shipyards.
The collaboration between IRS and MARIN is a significant milestone that will benefit numerous new construction projects currently under IRS Classification, particularly Defence projects. By sharing expertise and resources, both organizations will provide world-class hydrodynamic services to shipyards and designers for existing and future projects. Through definitive agreements for each project, IRS and MARIN will determine the scope of their cooperation to ensure excellence and innovation in shipbuilding research.
PK Mishra, Joint Managing Director of IRS, emphasized the importance of elevating professional research in shipbuilding through collaborations like this. The MoU with MARIN represents a step forward in achieving this mission, as IRS aims to enhance its services and foster innovation with the help of MARIN’s expertise and resources. This partnership will enable IRS to meet the requirements of its clients and deliver cutting-edge maritime solutions for new construction projects classified by IRS.
