Danish Shipping has launched a new Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) Shipping Network to address the need for collaboration and knowledge sharing within the shipping industry regarding sustainability reporting. The network aims to facilitate collaboration, enhance learning, and drive business benefits for companies committed to sustainable and responsible business practices.
The new network was inaugurated with insights from Danish Shipping members Maersk and Clipper, who shared their ESG reporting strategies and emphasized the importance of collaboration and transparency in overcoming sustainability challenges in shipping. The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) requires large and listed companies to publish regular reports on their social and environmental impact, with new and demanding standards for information disclosure. Maersk and Clipper expressed their commitment to transparently reporting their progress in ESG, as it is essential to staying relevant to customers and meeting increasing consumer expectations.
The ESG Shipping Network aims to provide a platform for sharing best practices, fostering industry-wide learning and compliance, and promoting a culture of knowledge sharing across the shipping industry. With the CSRD setting new standards for reporting and disclosure, the network will play a crucial role in helping companies navigate the legislation and demonstrate tangible progress in ESG to stay relevant to customers.
