A dramatic incident occurred aboard the Disney Dream cruise ship on June 29 when a child fell overboard while the vessel was returning to Fort Lauderdale from a Bahamian cruise. The emergency “Mr. M.O.B.” alert prompted a swift response from the crew, who successfully rescued both the child and her father, who jumped in after her. A Disney Cruise Line spokesperson praised the crew’s prompt actions, emphasizing their commitment to guest safety.

Passengers reported that crew members quickly launched life preservers and deployed a rescue boat. One passenger, Kevin Furuta, noted the urgency of the situation on social media, highlighting the crew’s immediate response. The incident took place while the ship was cruising between the Bahamas and Florida, rather than while docked.

Despite the ship’s safety measures, including plexiglass barriers and overboard detection systems, details surrounding how the child fell remain unclear. This incident underscores the importance of safety protocols on cruise ships, as demonstrated by the rapid and effective response of the Disney Dream’s crew.
