Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri and Oceania Cruises, part of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, recently celebrated the keel laying of the Oceania Sonata cruise ship at Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard. The Oceania Sonata will boast a gross tonnage of approximately 86,000 tonnes and accommodate up to 1,390 guests, emphasizing luxury travel and spacious public areas.
Set for delivery in 2027, the Oceania Sonata marks the inaugural vessel in the new Sonata class, a next-generation series derived from the Allura class. The Allura-class ships, Oceania Vista and Oceania Allura, were constructed by Fincantieri and delivered in 2023 and 2025, respectively.
The Sonata class program plans for three additional ships, with Oceania Arietta expected to join the fleet in 2029, followed by two more vessels slated for delivery in 2032 and 2035. This expansion reflects Oceania Cruises’ commitment to enhancing its luxury offerings and onboard experiences for travelers.
