Crew members aboard the Norwegian Prima have been granted seven days of free basic internet access due to ongoing complaints about slow connection speeds. Despite the ship’s high-speed Starlink capabilities, many crew members have struggled to use even basic messaging apps, causing frustration for those wanting to stay connected with family. While the complimentary internet package, which allows unlimited browsing and messaging but excludes video streaming and VPN access, is a step forward, crew members are eager for a permanent solution to the connectivity issues.

One crew member expressed dissatisfaction, noting that they paid $120 for full access, including streaming, yet are left with a basic package that doesn’t meet their needs. Internet speeds have reportedly worsened during the ship’s journey to Iceland, yet Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has not clarified whether the issues stem from onboard equipment, satellite signal limitations, or software capacity.

Despite the introduction of the free package, many crew members feel NCL’s response is inadequate. They highlight ongoing frustrations with the lack of transparency regarding the root cause of the problems, especially after long workdays when reliable internet is crucial for family communication.

Similar connectivity issues have been reported on other ships, including the Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Sun, where crew members faced similar frustrations. In the past, NCL has offered partial refunds for service disruptions, acknowledging the challenges posed by limited satellite coverage.
