Oceania Cruises, a premium brand of Norwegian Cruise Lines Holdings, recently received its second new ship, Allura, from Fincantieri at a ceremony in Genoa, Italy. This delivery is part of a significant $9 billion order that will see four larger ships built for the brand over the next decade. Allura, alongside her sister ship Vista, represents the first new vessels for Oceania in over ten years, emphasizing the line’s focus on enhancing culinary experiences and destination offerings.
The Allura weighs 68,000 gross tons and accommodates around 1,200 passengers. At 246 meters long, it surpasses earlier ships like Marina and Riviera. The new ship features a variety of dining options, including the brand’s first Creperie, French, pan-Asian, Italian, and steakhouse restaurants. Additionally, Allura boasts spacious staterooms, most of which have private balconies.
Following the delivery of Allura, construction has begun on the Sonata, an 86,000 gross ton ship expected in 2027, which will accommodate 1,390 passengers. Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings has also confirmed plans for two more Sonata class ships, with adjusted delivery dates now set for 2032 and 2035 to enhance profitability and align with shipyard schedules.
