A crew member aboard P&O Cruises’ Arvia tragically died following an accident on the ship, as confirmed by a company spokesperson. The incident occurred during the vessel’s two-week voyage to Barbados, which began on October 24. The ship made an unexpected stop at the Port of A Coruña, Spain, on October 26, where it remained docked for several hours before continuing its journey to Tenerife.
In a statement, P&O Cruises expressed condolences, stating, "Our thoughts and prayers are with their family and friends both on board and at home," and emphasized their commitment to providing support during this difficult time. However, further details regarding the nature of the accident and the circumstances surrounding the crew member’s death have not been disclosed.
The Arvia, capable of accommodating approximately 5,200 guests and 1,800 crew members, features numerous amenities, including 30 bars and restaurants, multiple entertainment venues, and swimming pools. This incident follows another recent occurrence where a passenger on a different cruise ship docked in Cannes was found unresponsive, later determined to have died from a likely heart attack during a celebratory trip.
