Cochin Shipyard has officially started construction on the Pelagic Wahoo, a cutting-edge commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV) for Cyprus-based Pelagic Wind Services, a branch of Pelagic Partners. The keel-laying ceremony took place, led by Pelagic Wind Services CEO Andre Groeneveld.

The Pelagic Wahoo is the second in a series of advanced CSOVs designed to be methanol-ready, showcasing its relevance in the shift towards more sustainable shipping practices and renewable energy support. The vessel measures 93 meters in length and 19.6 meters in width, and follows the Kongsberg UT 5520 MH design, prioritizing safety, sea-keeping performance, and fuel efficiency.

This hybrid vessel will accommodate 120 personnel, including wind-farm technicians, and will have DNV comfort class notations. It features a robust hybrid propulsion system, permanent magnet azimuth thrusters, cutting-edge ship automation, and a large battery bank to allow low-emission operations in port.

Cochin Shipyard emphasized that this project underscores its dedication to innovation, sustainability, and international collaboration, solidifying its role as a leader in building specialized next-generation vessels.
