Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) was honored with the ‘Outstanding PSU of the Year’ award at an All India Management Association (AIMA) event in New Delhi. The Kerala-based shipbuilder received this recognition for its exemplary performance, innovation, and leadership in enhancing India’s shipbuilding and maritime ecosystem. The award was presented by Union Minister for Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, and accepted by Dr. Harikrishnan S., Director (Operations) of CSL.
Established in 2010, the AIMA Managing India Awards aim to acknowledge outstanding management across various sectors, including cinema, art, hospitality, and maritime. This accolade comes shortly after CSL signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with French shipping giant CMA CGM on February 18, for the construction of six LNG-fueled vessels, each with a capacity of 1,700 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).
Valued at approximately Rs 3,267 crore, this deal marks a significant milestone, as these vessels will be the first of their kind commissioned by a major company from an Indian shipyard. Additionally, the vessels will carry the Indian flag, symbolizing a notable achievement for India’s maritime industry and its growing global presence.
The LNG-powered vessels align with India’s sustainability objectives, supporting the broader goals set under the Aatmanirbhar India initiative and the Maritime India Amrit Kaal Vision 2047.
