A massive fire erupted in an Egyptian shipyard located south of the Suez Canal, causing significant damage to the area used for fishing boats and pleasure craft. The fire started late on Thursday, January 30, and burned for approximately six hours. Despite efforts from teams in the Suez Governorate, the blaze was difficult to contain due to the flammable materials present in the shipyard.
Pictures and videos captured the intense flames engulfing multiple boats in the yard area, which is situated in the Adabiya region near the southern entrance of the Suez Canal. While authorities confirmed no fatalities, three individuals were hospitalized for treatment. The fire resulted in the destruction of at least 10 fishing boats and pleasure craft.
Search and investigation efforts are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire and why it spread so rapidly. The incident has raised concerns about safety measures in shipyards and the potential risks associated with flammable materials. Authorities are working diligently to assess the extent of the damage and prevent similar incidents in the future.
