Container Corporation of India Ltd. (CONCOR) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bhavnagar Port Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. (BPIPL) on September 4, 2025, in New Delhi. This agreement focuses on the operation and maintenance of a new Container Terminal at Bhavnagar Port in Gujarat, which is poised to enhance logistics capabilities in the region.
BPIPL had previously secured a 30-year lease from the Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) in September 2024 for the development of this port infrastructure, covering 235 hectares, with potential expansion into an additional 250 hectares. The facility aims to serve the logistics demands of Central Gujarat, including the Dholera Industrial Belt and the National Capital Region (NCR).
As the designated Container Terminal Operator, CONCOR will oversee operations, management, and marketing of the terminal. This move marks CONCOR’s strategic entry into port operations, aligning with its goals for forward integration. Detailed terms of the agreement are currently being finalized.
Sanjay Swarup, CMD of CONCOR, expressed optimism about the collaboration, forecasting significant benefits for customers and reinforcing CONCOR’s leadership in the logistics sector. With a robust network and fleet, CONCOR is well-equipped to provide effective logistics solutions.
