The Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) has launched a Request for Qualification (RFQ) for developing a 1,000 MWp solar power project along the coast of Gujarat, between Chirai and Jangi. This initiative aims to bolster long-term renewable energy procurement and enhance clean energy capacity significantly.

The project will be allocated through a competitive bidding process, securing a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for the winning developer. Once operational, the facility is expected to generate up to 1,750 million units of solar power annually, with construction and power supply expected to commence within 10 months post-PPA signing.

The chosen site is inter-tidal and partially within the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ), thus bidders must acquire all necessary consents and environmental clearances, ensuring full regulatory compliance. The bidding will occur in two stages: an initial responsiveness check followed by an evaluation of financial capacity, requiring bidders to show a free cash flow of at least ₹700 crore.

The timeline for the bidding process is structured with specific deadlines for document sales, bid submissions, and the issuance of the Letter of Intent. This substantial solar project underscores DPA’s commitment to sustainability while offering developers a prime opportunity in India’s renewable energy space.
