Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) is actively pursuing business opportunities in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and South Asian markets. The company is also eyeing the domestic sector, where major players like AMNS India, JSW Group, and Adani Group are expanding their port operations, which will require maintenance services. This strategy was outlined at the recent Dredging Conclave 2025 in New Delhi.
Dredging vessels play a crucial role in deepening and widening ocean and river coasts by removing sediment. The domestic market is ripe for growth, bolstered by government initiatives like the Sagarmala Programme, which aims to enhance port infrastructure. Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Vizhinjam International Seaport in Kerala, a deep-water port developed by Adani Ports.
Additionally, AMNS India is set to establish a 20 MT manufacturing plant in Andhra Pradesh, complete with a captive port, necessitating ongoing maintenance dredging. JSW is also developing a port in Orissa, while another project is underway near Mangalore. DCI is poised to leverage opportunities in dam and reservoir projects as well. Based in Visakhapatnam, DCI operates under the purview of four major Indian ports, enhancing its strategic positioning in the dredging sector.
