Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya in Vadodara, known for its expertise in railway and aviation logistics, is expanding to include marine and port sectors. During the university’s convocation, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced this extension, highlighting the shift in focus to align with India’s growing emphasis on coastal infrastructure and maritime trade. This move will create new avenues for research, education, and workforce development in these crucial industries.
Additionally, the university is establishing a Centre of Excellence in bridge and tunnel engineering to equip students with specialized skills for infrastructure development. Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, founded in 2022 through an Act of Parliament, aims to develop top-tier talent for the transportation and logistics sector, collaborating with leading global institutions, including Airbus and L&T.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, addressing the ceremony, emphasized the transformative impact of infrastructure and logistics on India’s economic development. He described the logistics sector as a game changer, presenting vast opportunities for youth. Singh asserted that strong logistics underpin national security, enhancing the timely delivery of vital supplies to bolster the morale of border guards, thus strengthening the nation.
