Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) recently unveiled two Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs) that were designed and built in-house for the Indian Coast Guard. The vessels, named Amulya and Akshay, were launched in a ceremony attended by key officials, including Vandana Agrawal and Sanjeev Kumar, marking a significant milestone in GSL’s journey towards excellence in technology and operations. This launch is part of GSL’s ongoing construction of a fleet of eight FPVs for the Indian Coast Guard, highlighting the shipyard’s crucial role in supporting the vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ in defence production.
These cutting-edge FPVs are specifically tailored to meet the operational requirements of the Indian Coast Guard, with dimensions of 52 meters in length, 8 meters in breadth, and a displacement of 320 tonnes. They are primarily tasked with safeguarding offshore assets, island territories, and conducting surveillance missions. Notably, GSL achieved a landmark moment by simultaneously launching two vessels using its advanced Ship-Lift System, demonstrating the shipyard’s commitment to modernization and efficiency.
The successful launch of these indigenous FPVs serves as a testament to GSL’s expertise in shipbuilding and commitment to supporting national security initiatives.
