Great Eastern Shipping Company Ltd. (GESCO) is set to enhance its fleet by acquiring a Kamsarmax dry bulk carrier of approximately 81,922 DWT, scheduled to join by Q3 FY 2026. This acquisition will be fully funded through internal accruals. Currently, GESCO operates 38 vessels totaling 3.04 million DWT, which includes 26 tankers and 12 dry bulk carriers, reflecting nearly 100% capacity utilization.
This latest addition follows previous agreements for two secondhand vessels: another Kamsarmax dry bulk carrier and a Suezmax crude carrier, both expected to arrive by the same timeframe. With these three vessels, GESCO’s fleet will expand to 41 vessels, increasing its total capacity to 3.37 million DWT.
The company’s strategic move aims to strengthen its market presence in both the dry bulk and tanker sectors, responding to the growing global shipping demand. GESCO’s operational efficiency and proactive fleet expansion underline its commitment to maintaining a competitive edge in the maritime industry.
