Cmde Girideep Singh, a retired Indian Navy officer and the Chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), provided an overview of the shipyard’s diverse capabilities. He detailed HSL’s expertise in shipbuilding, ship repairs, and submarine refits, emphasizing the facility’s commitment to adopting green-energy propulsion technologies.
Singh also highlighted the shipyard’s growing contribution to the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, which aims to bolster India’s self-reliance in various sectors, including maritime defense. The advancements at HSL are pivotal in enhancing the nation’s maritime capabilities and reducing dependency on foreign technologies.
The discussions during the visit reflect the government’s focus on strengthening India’s defense infrastructure while promoting sustainable practices within the industry. HSL’s initiatives align with national goals, positioning it as a key player in the future of India’s maritime self-sufficiency.
