The Indian Federation of Green Energy (IFGE) has partnered with the Global Ethanol Association (GEA) by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at promoting ethanol as a sustainable green fuel, particularly in the marine sector, including automotive and aviation applications. The MoU was signed by Sanjay Ganjoo of IFGE and Morten Jacobsen of GEA, representing a significant move towards international cooperation in bioenergy and green fuels, especially for low-carbon maritime transport solutions.
This collaboration aims to accelerate the use of ethanol as a marine fuel, contributing to global decarbonization efforts in shipping and pushing for innovation, policy advocacy, and market development. GEA will provide expertise on ethanol and sustainable marine fuel applications, sharing research and best practices. Joint initiatives will focus on promoting ethanol’s potential as a clean, scalable fuel across various transportation sectors.
Atul Mulay, Chairman of the IFGE BioEnergy Committee, emphasized the importance of this partnership in creating international market linkages for ethanol, opening new opportunities for Indian companies in the ethanol sector. Jacobsen noted that this partnership could significantly advance global decarbonization while fostering the transition to cleaner energy solutions in maritime and other transport areas. GEA and IFGE will also conduct workshops and seminars to engage stakeholders and promote ethanol-based solutions.
