Sonowal pointed out that India currently represents over 10% of the global seafarer workforce, with projections suggesting that by 2030, one in five global seafarers will be Indian. He also mentioned the country’s ambitions in cruise tourism, aiming to lead the Asia-Pacific region with a tenfold increase in passenger traffic.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis remarked on the importance of the platform established during the Maritime Conference, which aims to communicate the ongoing changes and benefits in the maritime sector to both the nation and the world. He expressed gratitude for the rapid growth and strengthening of India’s maritime capabilities under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.
