New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh emphasized India’s commitment to shaping the maritime century by fostering not only shipbuilding but also partnerships and trust. Speaking at the Samudra Utkarsh Seminar 2025, he highlighted the oceans as connectors of nations and called for collaboration toward a secure and prosperous maritime future.

Singh noted that India’s shipbuilding capabilities are a testament to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, expressing confidence that the commercial fleet will soon be entirely produced in India. He remarked, "Every ship of the Indian Navy and Coast Guard currently under production is being built in an Indian shipyard," underscoring the principle of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India).

He celebrated the advanced technology and facilities in Indian shipyards, which align with global standards. Furthermore, Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth pointed out that shipbuilding has a significant multiplier effect on the economy, advocating for fishing boats to expand job opportunities in fisheries and tourism. He urged continued innovation and collaboration among industry partners and government ministries to bolster the nation’s maritime capabilities.
