The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) is gearing up to host its largest-ever National Maritime Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX-24) in Kochi from November 28 to 29. Alongside this exercise, the 22nd National Maritime Search and Rescue (NMSAR) Board meeting will also take place. The two-day event, with the theme ‘Enhancing SAR capabilities through regional collaboration’, will involve real-time simulations to improve the skills needed for effective Search and Rescue (SAR) operations. It will also promote collaborative efforts among regional and international maritime stakeholders.
The event aims to enhance SAR capabilities and strengthen SAR linkages through the participation of over 40 international observers from partner nations. By showcasing India’s role in enhancing operational readiness and establishing stronger regional coordination in maritime safety, the event will highlight the country’s commitment to maritime security. The organizers emphasize the importance of regional collaboration in improving SAR operations and ensuring maritime safety.
