The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) has assured that all Indian seafarers in the Western Persian Gulf are safe, with no incidents reported involving Indian-flag vessels in the last 24 hours. Mukesh Mangal provided an update, highlighting that two Indian-flagged LPG carriers, Green Sanghvi and Green Asha, have successfully navigated the key Strait of Hormuz without any disturbances.
Currently, there are 16 Indian-flagged vessels operating in this region, carrying a total of 433 Indian crew members. Authorities are closely collaborating with ship operators, port officials, and international maritime organizations to ensure the ongoing safety of Indian personnel and assets.
The Strait of Hormuz, a vital energy corridor for global oil and gas supplies, is under vigilant monitoring due to shifting geopolitical circumstances. In response, Indian maritime authorities have enhanced surveillance and issued advisories for vessels transiting the area.
The Directorate General of Shipping, in coalition with relevant agencies, is actively engaging with stakeholders to provide real-time updates while reinforcing adherence to safety protocols. The Government of India continues to prioritize the safety and welfare of its seafarers, remaining alert to protect national maritime interests amid evolving global conditions.
