The 8th edition of the India Boat & Marine Show (IBMS) highlights the surge in electric propulsion within India’s expansive maritime sector. In 2025, solar energy capacities soared by nearly 30 GigaWatts, spurring developments in both commercial and leisure electric ferries. The IBMS, set for January 29-31 at the Bolgatty Palace Event Centre and Kochi International Marina, serves as a hub for innovators in the boating industry, showcasing regional advancements and fostering discussion among key stakeholders.
Cochin, a pivotal center for shipbuilding and repair, boasts the renowned Cochin shipyard, which has produced aircraft carriers. It also features the ‘Kochi Water Metro’ with over 75 electric boats on various routes. The event will gather 65 exhibitors from various sectors, including a focus on electric propulsion, represented by companies like Navalt, a multi-award-winning electric boat manufacturer. A significant portion of the exhibitors will showcase electric watercraft for leisure and commercial use.
Among the innovative displays, companies will present various environmentally friendly marine technologies, while attendees can explore electric outboards, water sports equipment, and electric passenger vessels, marking a transformative phase in India’s water transport industry.
