India made significant strides in its electric vehicle (EV) sector as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Maruti Suzuki’s new EV manufacturing facility in Gujarat this week. This event also marked the launch of the first batch of domestically produced electric cars set for over 100 international markets.
In a notable development, APM Terminals Pipavav Port became the first Indian port to export these EVs, specifically facilitating the shipment of 1,534 units of the eVITARA model to the UK and Germany in August 2025. This achievement positions the port as a key logistics partner in India’s green mobility initiative.
Pipavav Port emphasized its role in India’s EV revolution, stating that it serves not just as a cargo gateway but also as a catalyst for delivering innovative vehicles from Gujarat to the global marketplace.
This milestone underscores the port’s strategic importance in advancing India’s goal to become a global hub for sustainable manufacturing and exports. As the nation accelerates its transition to cleaner transportation, the evolving logistics infrastructure highlights its vital role in fostering green supply chains and driving economic growth while supporting climate goals.
