Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), India’s Largest Container Port, has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 8 million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) in container throughput for the fiscal year 2025–2026. This accomplishment also includes a record annual cargo throughput of 100 million metric tonnes (MMT). To commemorate this success, JNPA held a stakeholder meeting with terminal operators.
The Authority attributed this achievement to the robust collaboration within the maritime trade community. Continued partnerships have proven essential for JNPA’s sustained growth and operational excellence.
Gaurav Dayal, IAS, Chairperson of JNPA, highlighted the collective efforts, stating that reaching these thresholds is a proud moment reflecting the resilience, efficiency, and dedication of all stakeholders involved. He emphasized their commitment to enhancing infrastructure, improving ease of doing business, and supporting India’s ambition to establish itself as a global maritime hub.
Additionally, JNPA’s traffic remains primarily gateway-driven but is seeing a gradual rise in transshipment volumes. The port is actively investing in strategic infrastructure developments and digital transformation to meet growing trade demands and enhance its global competitiveness.
