In a significant festive announcement, Nitesh Rane, Maharashtra’s Minister for Fisheries, Ports, and Harbour Development, revealed that employees of the Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB) will receive a special Diwali grant. This announcement was made during the Board’s 85th meeting, which took place at its Mumbai headquarters.
For the first time, contractual employees hired through external agencies will also benefit from this Diwali ex-gratia payment. Regular officers and employees will each receive Rs 50,000, while contractual staff will be granted Rs 20,000 as a goodwill gesture for the festival. This inclusion has been met with widespread approval and is regarded as a landmark decision in the Board’s employee welfare efforts.
Minister Rane emphasized that this initiative reflects the government’s dedication to employee welfare and acknowledges the contributions of all staff members to the Board’s success and development. The decision aims to foster a culture of inclusivity and appreciation within the workforce at the Maharashtra Maritime Board, promoting a sense of belonging and motivation among employees.
