Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced significant advancements in India’s maritime sector under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership during a press conference on October 27, 2025. He emphasized the government’s Maritime Vision 2030 and Amrit Kaal Maritime Vision, which are designed to attract substantial investments and enhance the maritime industry. Fadnavis expressed optimism about the sector’s growth, stating that the expansion of maritime business in India since Modi took office has been remarkable.
He also highlighted Maharashtra’s ambition to become a premier shipbuilding destination. “Our vision includes vast investments and progress in maritime business,” he noted, expressing his commitment to realizing the Prime Minister’s dream for the state. Earlier that day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the ‘India Maritime Week – 2025’ in Mumbai, attended by various dignitaries, including Chief Ministers from Gujarat, Goa, and Odisha.
In his address, Shah referred to Mumbai’s iconic Gateway of India, proclaiming it as “India’s Maritime Moment,” poised to transform it into a global maritime hub. He acknowledged that the Maritime Summits over the past decade have established India as a formidable player on the global maritime stage, thanks to significant structural reforms in the maritime economy. The India Maritime Week 2025 is being hosted by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways from October 27 to 31 in Mumbai.
