Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently laid the foundation for several transformative projects at a major event in Bhuj, Kutch, highlighting the Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) with investments exceeding ₹1,100 crores. DPA is designated as a key “green hydrogen hub” under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, aiming to boost clean energy initiatives alongside infrastructure modernization and regional economic growth, aligning with the vision of a Developed India by 2047.
Among the inaugurated projects is the oil kitchen No. 8 in Old Kandla, valued at ₹532 crores, featuring a newly built bridge with a capacity of 3.5 MMT. Additional expansions aim to enhance container traffic efficiency and expedite freight evacuation, enhancing the port’s operational capabilities while improving local infrastructure and creating job opportunities.
The foundation for further projects worth ₹602 crores, including a 10 MW Green Water Material production facility in Kandla, was also laid, marking DPA’s commitment to pioneering advancements in the green hydrogen sector. The development plans include constructing overbridges and upgrading local connectivity, reinforcing DPA’s strategic role in establishing a sustainable and competitive maritime ecosystem.
With these initiatives, the DPA reaffirms its dedication to contributing to India’s logistical prowess through clean energy solutions and state-of-the-art freight handling technologies.
