Goa: The Mormugao Port Authority has temporarily halted operations for all port companies due to a cyclonic system developing off the coast of Goa and North Karnataka. This decision aligns with a warning issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on May 21, 2025, indicating that a cyclonic system formed over the eastern Arabian Sea, leading to adverse weather, including heavy rainfall and strong winds.
In response to the forecast, the port has enforced strict monsoon protocols. These include prohibiting small crafts and load barges from entering the affected areas, as well as requiring ships to adhere to enhanced mooring and safety measures.
