The Directorate for Shipping (DG Shipping) has issued a clarification to quash rumors about a potential ban on foreign competitors in the maritime sector. The authority reassures that legitimate seafarers with valid certifications are not affected by these misconceptions, which have circulated widely on social media.
To facilitate a thorough review process, the DG Shipping has introduced a 30-day validation window for RPSL agencies to submit necessary documents. This initiative aims to establish a transparent, rule-based framework that safeguards Indian seafarers’ careers while upholding industry integrity in line with international maritime standards.
Furthermore, the DG Shipping has cautioned against fraudulent activities and will implement strict measures against offenders. Seafarers and industry stakeholders are encouraged to rely solely on official communications to avoid misinformation.
The deadline for document submission is September 4, 2025. For inquiries, DG Shipping has provided designated email channels for direct communication. This clarification underscores the DG Shipping’s commitment to protecting genuine seafarers’ interests and maintaining India’s standing in the global shipping arena.
