A fishing vessel named Sea Princess caught fire and sank off the coast of Mumbai, India, on Sunday, March 8, leading to one person being injured. The incident took place in the late morning hours, prompting nearby fishing boats to assist. Crews from these vessels, along with personnel from the Indian Coast Guard and other agencies, quickly responded to the emergency.

All seven crew members aboard Sea Princess were safely evacuated onto the nearby boats as the fire rapidly consumed their vessel, which ultimately sank around 5 PM that day. One crew member suffered injuries to his leg and hand and was transported to a hospital. According to the Hindustan Times, he is currently in stable condition.

A representative from a local fishermen’s association has indicated that plans for salvaging the wreck are being formulated. Concurrently, an investigation is underway to ascertain the causes of the fire and subsequent sinking of the fishing vessel.
